Rest Easy 'Sherlock' Fans, Seasons 4 And 5 Have Already Been Plotted Out

'Sherlock' Will Be Back

Sherlock Holmes is the world's greatest detective, but one mystery that has already been solved is what is in store for him in the next two seasons of "Sherlock."

Even though the third season of "Sherlock" just premiered over a week ago in the U.K., the show's seasons are only three episodes long, which means that the next episode is already the season finale.

To help "Sherlock" fans through their sudden separation anxiety, co-creator and executive producer Steven Moffat has revealed plans for Seasons 4 and 5.

Radio Times reports that a recent screening of the third season finale, "His Last Vow," Moffat told the audience, “Rather excitingly, Mark [Gatiss, "Sherlock" co-creator] and I, for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the ["Sherlock"] production bus … and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future. And we plotted out the whole of series four and five.” Moffat then added, "The ideas we had that day, I thought were the best we’ve ever had.”

The third season hasn't even premiered yet in the U.S. and Moffat already has fans excited for what's ahead for Holmes and Watson in the years to come.

"Sherlock" Season 3 premieres Jan. 19 at 10 p.m. EST on PBS.
