Footage of a 72-year-old grandmother's poignant song for her lesbian bride-to-be niece is making the blogosphere rounds.
Sherri Gray of Nashville says she was inspired to write and perform "What If We Are Just Like You? (Shannon And Lisa's Song)" by her niece and fiancee's forthcoming August wedding, Gay Star News reports.
"Some say we're different, that we're wrong/They want us set apart," Gray, who wears a "Straight But Not Narrow" sweatshirt in the video, croons. "We say we're equal, and we're strong/With human minds and heart ... Like you, we dream of hopes and kids, and blessings from above/And still so many shake their heads and say we should not love."
Gray told Gay Star News that she doesn't consider herself an activist, but she "gets goddamn mad by narrow-mindedness and prejudice and crazy stuff."
Last week, the pro-gay marriage country ditty "Two Men Who Do Si Do" -- which tells the story of two country boys who happen to dance together at the radio -- was released.
