After an impromptu haircut as a child, it took me years to even feel comfortable with the sound of scissors behind my head. But once I built up the nerve, it made for quite the transformation... and a freeing one at that.
In the video above, we meet Angel. The mother of three and pediatric oncology nurse has worn her naturally wavy hair way past her shoulders for four decades. Now that Angel's turned the big 4-0, her patients are urging her to donate some of what she's got on top.
Celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis wields his scissors and comb to rid the mom of her boring bun-and-scrunchie hair routine. And her "welcoming" to change attitude, of course, made every snip that much more satisfying. After a quick shampoo, Francis trims Angel's bob to shape. Then he blow-dries it, uses a one-inch curling iron to create face-framing tendrils and sets the style with hairspray.
"I feel fabulous. I look like a new woman," says Angel. "I can't wait for another girl to feel as young and as beautiful and as amazing as I feel with their new hair."
