'Short Term 12' Trailer: Brie Larson's Breakout Performance Coming To Theaters This Summer

Is She A Best Actress Dark Horse?

"Short Term 12" debuted to rave reviews at the SXSW Film Festival in March, and audiences wondering what the fuss was about would be wise to check out the heartbreaking new trailer.

Starring Brie Larson and John Gallagher Jr., "Short Term 12" focuses on a young couple (Larson and Gallagher) who work at a foster care facility. Larson is the breakout of the film, giving a performance that rivals what Ryan Gosling did as a troubled teacher in "Half Nelson."

"It was a story and a character that I wanted to explore and one I knew that I could," Larson, who has previously appeared in films like "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," told HuffPost Entertainment during SXSW. "It's a really great feeling when you feel like you're doing something that nobody else can do. That you have a take on it that's completely unique. Once that was the case, it was all downhill. I had ambition in my eyes. There was no fear."
