He is best known for hitting Billboard's top 100 singles charts two times with "Corona and Lime" and "Buzzin", he has had his own MTV series, Buzzin , which chronicled his misadventures with musical partner Cisco Adler, he has performed on Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Good Morning America, Fuse, and has toured all over the country. Shwayze, a household name, epitomizes Southern California culture. Now, out with his EP Shwayzed & Confused, he joined me to discuss his favorite track on the EP, his first love, how he wants to be remembered, and more.

Michael Picard: First of all, I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview. If you weren't an artist, what would you be doing and why?

Shwayze: My first love, even before music, is acting. So I would definitely be an actor. I have not given up on that dream yet, so keep an eye out for me on the big Screen!

Michael Picard: How did you get your start in music?

Shwayze: I fell in love with music at a young age. My high school, Malibu High, got a recording studio donated by David Foster. That was incredible and that was the start of my love for recording music.

Michael Picard: Share one of your favorite stories or experiences as an artist.

Shwayze: The first time someone told me how important my music was to their life. I just thought I made fun music, but they explained that listening to my words took them out of their current reality and made them feel like they were in California, hanging with me! It really humbled me and helped me realize what an impact music has on people.

Michael Picard: You recently came out with your EP (Extended Play) Shwayzed & Confused, which I absolutely love. If you had to pick your favorite track, a track that spoke to you and is most meaningful to you, which track would you pick and why?

Shwayze: Thank You! It's so cliché, but seriously, every song is a favorite of mine. I chose these five songs out of 30 to put on this EP! But one that I really love is "Better Than Most Loves" Featuring The Cataracs, just the concept of the hook touches me. Listen to it and you'll see what I mean (smiles).

Michael Picard: Do you have any plans on touring on the East Coast and if not, how can we get you over here?

Shwayze: Yes! I love the East Coast. In February and March, I'll be touring with Sky Blu of LMFAO and a few more of our friends nationwide. Peep shwayze.com for upcoming tour dates!

Michael Picard: They say that you learn more from failure. What have you learned from your failures?

Shwayze: Be involved in every part of your business, no one wants you to win more than yourself. Also, work because of love and passion, not money and pressure.

Michael Picard: What do you want people to remember you by?

Shwayze: My consistency and my originality. I may not be the most famous, but your favorite rapper probably jocks my style.

Michael Picard: What advice would you give to budding artists or someone just starting out in the industry?

Shwayze: Keep working. If people are hating, you are on to something.
