You already know the secrets of success

As a motivational speaker and hypnotist, people often ask me to reveal the secrets of success. The funny thing is that most people already know what the secrets are. They simply fail to apply them. And because they fail to apply them, they pretend not to know what they are.

When someone asks, for example, how he or she can make more sales, the truth is that they already know the answer. There’s nothing “magical” that I can say that they don’t already know. The secrets to making more sales include making more sales calls, spending more time on marketing, and having a great product or service. Another common example is with weight loss. It’s common knowledge that exercising more and eating less is all that’s required. We all know this but it seems that everyone is waiting around for an underground answer from some “guru” or something. So, what’s the deal?

Why aren’t most applying those secrets?

If we already know what needs to be done to better our lives, why aren’t we doing those things? Well, I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that it’s entirely your own fault. The good news is that it’s not entirely your own fault. Confused? I thought so, so allow me to explain.

Technically speaking, not taking action on the things that you know will lead you towards greater success is your own fault. At the same time, it’s not quite your fault because there is an entity that is stopping you from taking action, and that entity is you. Well, not you entirely. It’s a part of your known as your subconscious mind.

Consciously, you know what you ought to be doing to achieve your goals. The reason you don’t do all of those things is because your subconscious mind hasn’t been upgraded, or reprogrammed, to accept the life that you consciously desire. Our subconscious minds are far more powerful than our conscious minds. Without an update, your subconscious mind will continue to hold you back from your full potential. Fortunately, there are very effective ways for reprograming how we think. These techniques can transform your subconscious mind from being your worst enemy to your most powerful ally.

Upgrading your mental software

Think about the apps on your phone. How often do you upgrade the apps and the software in order for your phone to run correctly and efficiently? Pretty often right? So, doesn’t it make sense to do the same with your most valuable asset? If you’re not where you want to be in your life, you need to find a way to let your subconscious mind know. It’s not going to figure it out on its own. That part of our minds doesn’t like change and it will be more than content to never evolve keeping you right where you are today.

The fasted way to reprogram our minds for success is through hypnosis, but there is a simple method that you can begin to use today that will yield impressive results. This easy technique uses a type of self-hypnosis based thinking to make small yet consistent changes to your subconscious mind. It’s easy to do and the results can add up to outstanding results.

Stop talking yourself into failure

The secret lies in changing your habits, one tiny step at a time. Habits exist only in our subconscious minds. That’s why they’re so hard to break and to create. You can consciously decide that you want to lose weight, but if your subconscious mind isn’t also onboard, then your idea will not sustain and you’ll end up on a roller-coaster of continually losing but then regaining the weight.

It all begins with how we talk to ourselves. I often hear people say things like, “No matter what I do, I can’t lose weight” or “Whenever I try to lose weight I just gain it back again.” What these people don’t realize is that they are hypnotizing themselves to fail. The subconscious mind does not respond to negative speak.

The problem is how they worded the sentence. By saying that you can’t lose weight, you are affirming that exact fact to yourself. And, by saying that whenever you TRY to lose weight it doesn’t work, you are making success an impossibility. Using the word “try” automatically implies failure. Yoda nailed it on the head in Star Wars when he said, “Do or do not, there is no try.”

People tend to resort to this negative self-talk because they are setting goals that they don’t believe they can achieve. What if we turned those goals into micro-goals instead? When someone decides to lose weight, for example, they’ll often focus on his or her ideal weight as the goal. They might decide that they want to lose 30-pounds, but their subconscious mind sees that as too much work and it sabotages your efforts. So let’s break it down to a micro-level instead.

Creating micro-habits

Instead of focussing on all of the weight that you wish to lose, focus only on one pound. Instead of worrying about making an extra 30 sales calls in a week, focus on making five. We already said that we know what needs to be done to reach our goals, right?

If the only thing that we did to lose weight was to take the stairs a few times instead of the elevator and make a few healthier decisions when we eat, could we lose one pound in a week? Yes, of course, we could! And, it would be pretty easy too. Instead of telling ourselves that we can’t, we simply have to tell ourselves that we certainly can make healthier choices throughout the week. Just a pound’s worth!

In just ten week’s time, you’ve lost ten pounds and it wasn’t hard at all. You didn’t need to “try.” You just did it because you didn’t give your subconscious mind a chance to fill your mind with fear and doubt. Ten pounds from the start may have triggered doubt, but a single pound in a week is so doable that fear never has a chance to slow you down.

This painless technique can be applied to any area of your life that you wish to improve. Think about it. If you made five extra sales calls per week, for a year, that’s 260 more chances to boost your income. As you achieve these micro-goals, your self-confidence will automatically increase allowing you to up those numbers more and more. Before you know it, you may have transformed yourself into the person that you always knew you could be.
