'The Simpsons' Predicted Cardinals Hacking Scandal Back In 1999

Bart Simpson was a Cardinal sin prophet.

As the longest-running animated series, "The Simpsons" already has its place in history. But did you know the comedy might also be able to predict the future?

A 1999 episode, "Brother's Little Helper," foretold the St. Louis Cardinals' alleged involvement in a current hacking scandal, news outlets are pointing out. Well, sort of.

Bart, under the influence of a drug to treat his misdiagnosed ADHD, cooks up a conspiracy theory that Major League Baseball is spying on Springfield. In the scene above, then-Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire arrives to confirm Bart's suspicions. Then Bart asks him why the MLB was spying.

"Do you want me to tell you the terrifying truth, or do you want me to sock a few dingers?" McGwire responds.

We'll have to start combing through other old "Simpsons" episodes to see what other cyber-crimes it had in its crystal ball.
