Bounty Ad Beautifully Illustrates Just How Heroic Single Parents Really Are

Being a single parent is by far one of the toughest jobs on the planet. But all too often, single moms and dads go unnoticed for their tremendous sacrifices, which is why we're so thrilled that Bounty stepped up to recognize one such single dad.

Ryan Heitkamp is the subject of Bounty's recent ad about the trials of single parenthood. He lost his wife Amanda to ALS back in 2012, when the couple's daughter Aubrey was only six months old. Since then Heitkamp, a veteran, has spent the last few years raising Aubrey on his own.

Perhaps making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or entertaining a toddler doesn't seem as valiant as fighting a war but as the ad above highlights, single parenthood comes with its own set of challenges.

"Becoming a single dad changed my life forever" Heitkamp says in the clip. "But it wont ever stop me. I approach every activity like it's a mission, everything needs to be completed. We both have our roles. Aubrey's role is to make the messes, mine is to clean them up."
