iOS 6 Update Will Bring Siri To iPad, Eyes-Free Vehicle Integration To iPhone 4S

Siri Gets An Upgrade

Apple announced Monday that Siri, the personal digital assistant preferred by Samuel L. Jackson and Zooey Deschanel, is finally coming to the iPad.

Currently, Siri is only officially available on the iPhone 4S, but with iOS 6, Apple's latest version of its mobile operating system, which will be released in the fall, Siri will finally be available on the newest iPad, Engadget reports.

But the Siri news doesn't stop with the iPad: The Los Angeles Times reports Apple also announced "Eyes Free," Siri's vehicle integration program. According to Engadget, drivers will be able to control Siri using a button mounted on the steering wheels of some new cars.

Over the next year, carmakers such as Audi, Toyota and Honda will begin making Eyes Free an option on new vehicles. Engadget has a more complete list of car companies who are reportedly working on Siri integration, so click over there to see if your next car may be Siri compatible.

Additionally, Apple announced that Siri has been updated to include information from Open Table, Yelp and Rotten Tomatoes, so users will be able to get Siri to make restaurant and movie recommendations.

Apple also said it has added a database of sports information, so Siri will be able to answer many questions related professional athletics.

Finally, as Engadget reports, Siri will now be able to open apps for you on your iPhone and iPad.
