When Siri was first released by Apple, it revolutionised the way in which people used their phones. Because it provided accurate information quickly and consistently, Siri quickly became the household name associated with artificial intelligence. When other AI systems were released, they challenged the status quo that Siri had put forth by bringing new features to the table.

Google Assistant is one of those new systems. It has the same basic functions as Siri, such as access to applications and the ability to respond to verbal commands, and the two systems can operate at similar speeds. When you compare these types of basic features, the two systems do not differ much, but when you look at how the systems operate, you begin to see the ways in which AI systems like Google Assistant have challenged Siri.

For example, Google Assistant has implemented a personality that is more “human,” with friendlier responses and a sophisticated understanding of a user’s intent. Experts expect that this predictive ability of Google Assistant will help make it available on every smartphone in the future, while Siri will continue to be a feature of only Apple iOS.

Human-like qualities are not the only thing that differs between Google Assistant and Siri, as you will see in the following infographic by Zlated. It should help you understand how the two artificial intelligence systems work so that you can choose the smartphone that fits your needs best.
