Nun Admits To Embezzling $850K From College

A New York nun faces a decade in prison and a quarter-million dollar fine for embezzling money from the college at which she worked.

Sister Marie Thornton, known as "Sister Susie," plead guilty Wednesday to embezzling $850,000 from Iona College, the Associated Press reports.

The Catholic nun, 63, who served as Iona's vice president of finance, allegedly turned in fake invoices and had the school pay her credit card bills.

According to the Journal News, Thornton's lawyer said she is "accepting full responsibility for her actions."
