As Winter Storm Rocky buries the Plains and Midwest in one to two feet of snow, rain is the only precipitation in the forecast here in Washington.

This winter has been among the driest in D.C. history; according to the Capital Weather Gang, just 1.5 inches of snow have fallen on the region. (Compare that to Winter 2009-10, which dumped an all-time record 56.1 inches of snow on the city.)

Luckily, there are a few places to see snow just a few hours' drive from D.C. Make it a day trip or take a whole weekend, but winter wouldn't be winter without a chance to play in the powder.

Where's your favorite place to hit the slopes?
