There seem to be two camps concerning guest blogging in the content strategy world:

  • The first camp says guest blogging is a waste of time.
  • The second says it will skyrocket your business and help you tremendously.

As you can probably imagine, I am in the second camp. Your content marketing strategy should have guest blogging in it somewhere!

Here's why:

  1. When you guest post on blogs that have a lot of traffic, you get more eyeballs on your site, your content, and your services.

  • When you guest blog, visitors come to your website, and you have an opportunity to gain subscribers to your email list. Readers who visit through guest posts are far more likely to subscribe to your updates than those who find you by "googling".
  • When you guest blog, you help your SEO ranking because of the backlinks> that are created back to your website. This is one of the most authentic ways to boost your SEO.
  • Guest posting also means that you are creating brand exposure. If you focus on a niche in your industry and publish a guest blog on several sites, all of sudden you brand is popping up everywhere. This, my friend, is a beautiful thing for brand recognition.
  • Guest posting means that you are also building relationships with other bloggers and others in your industry. I've had some amazing things come from these types of relationships -- from client referrals to being asked to speak on a teleseminar.
  • I could go on and on, but I bet you are ready to start researching where you can guest post, right? No need to spend time doing the research -- I've included this awesome resource with over 140 websites that accept guest blog posts. Start writing!
