Coming from the world of Pro Wrestling and Bodybuilding, nutrition and foods are essential but even more than that for recovery on the body, is sleep. Both sports put the body under a great deal of stress and beats it up. Nothing functions properly when you are over tired.

I've done some research, and after a few discussions I found that many people suffer from sleeping disorders. In fact, many more than I actually realized. What brought this about goes like this.

I've always been a light sleeper and any sound can wake me up. But, as I get older I began to feel that I needed a deeper sleep in order to get the proper rest so that I can recuperate from my daily work outs. Years ago I could sleep a little less but still function pretty well in the gym. Now days it doesn't work the same. If I don't get enough I begin to drag through my work outs and my daily routine.

Two weeks ago I began waking up around 3:00 to 5:00 am with anxiety and sweats feeling like I needed to breath. I tried to exam what was triggering this on my mind but came up with nothing.

I have a successful business career, great relationship with my girlfriend and family and no financial problems. However I felt this funny feeling in my chest and a feeling of being all alone in the middle of the night in the dark. This is a very uneasy feeling and then a song I heard would keep repeating through my head all night along with other thoughts.

The next day in the gym, I was exhausted and could hardly go through my workout and would need at least a 30 minute nap in the afternoon. I don't like naps and feel they are a waste of productive time, however I would find myself dozing off at the computer.

I tried as suggested taking St Johns Wort, Melatonin, Tylenol PM and then Calcium/magnesium.

Mostly none of them worked because it was already embedded in my mind that I was going to wake up in the middle of the night. I even got up and walked the dog (Ozzie) at 3:30 am. Funny thing was, he was ready to go much more than I was.

Well the following night I mixed a spoonful of Cal/Mag with some Apple Cider Vinegar and warm water and sipped this before I went to bed. That night I slept all the way through only waking to use the bathroom a few times. This was the solution for me. I took this again the following night with good results again. I did wake once and began to feel this anxiety but put it aside and quickly went back to sleep. I remember taking this many years ago and thought I'd try it again.

One other thing I discovered was that when I have any indication of being sick or a slight flu coming on, I get the same feeling in my chest and stomach but that usually passes but can be mistaken as anxiety.

I'm not one who likes taking sleeping pills or drugs, but I definitely need my sleep and rest to be able to train in the gym like I always do and also to be able to focus throughout the day on my business.

The solution for me is the Cal/Mag at this point until I feel I'm back to normal and don't need it any longer. If you have these issues, I would suggest trying it as well.
