Dana Carvey's Church Lady Gets Self-Righteous Over The Election In 'SNL' Return

"Jesus is not on the ballot."

Dana Carvey’s sanctimonious Church Lady character weighed in on the presidential election during the actor’s return to “Saturday Night Live.”

Chatting to Colin Jost as part of the “Weekend Update” segment, she first thanked him for inviting her to his “little midnight shindig.” But then she unleashed a torrent of self-righteousness.

Instead of resting up for church, you’re staying up late making naughty jokes about Anthony’s Weiner,” Church Lady quipped. “Not quite the path of Jesus, is it?”

When Jost asked Church Lady for her opinions on the election, she didn’t hold back on expressing what she really thought about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her GOP rival, Donald Trump.

“Do we vote for a bitter, female android from the ‘90s? Or a riverboat gambler with a big tummy and an orange head?” she asked.

Church Lady then turned her ire on Jost himself, after he asked who she would vote for. “Jesus is not on the ballot, Colin. I suppose you’re going to write in your favorite candidate — Satan!”

There was a (kind of) uplifting end to the segment, however, as Church Lady sang a beautiful rendition of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” ― but with pictures of Anthony Weiner, Trump and Clinton appearing on the screen.
