Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Voice Is The Unfortunate Star Of First 'Snowden' Trailer

The first official trailer for Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden biopic about the NSA whistleblower debuted on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's impression of the embattled dissident is only slightly less disturbing than the NSA's unrestricted surveillance program.

The preview traces Snowden's journey from rejected Special Forces candidate to CIA employee and part-time Shailene Woodley lover (she plays girlfriend Lindsay Mills) before he decides to leak confidential information to the media about a government program infringing on the American public's privacy.

"Snowden" hits theaters Sept. 16.
