We've really been looking forward to Elliott Morgan's new comedy special "Premature" (which is now available on Vimeo, go watch it!), so it was great to have him as a guest on the What's Trending Podcast last week.

We got the usual mix of irreverent humor and smart ideas from Elliott as we discussed the latest topics, which of course included lots of Donald Trump. "I've read this really interesting conspiracy theory that he is doing this solely to split the Republican vote and ensure a Democratic victory," Elliott said. "Because he's been friends with the Clintons for years. If that's the case, that's brilliant, and insanely gross and disgusting and very sad that could actually happen."

A discussion about how Justin Bieber used Instagram to have his fans track down a girl he wanted to hook up with ("It's like his Tinder, but everybody's already swiped him right," Elliott remarked) led to the philosophical ideas of Slavoj Zizek.

"He was talking about the nature of falling in love, and how the digital age is not really letting people fall in love and experience that, so it ultimately can be a detriment to people's relationships. So that's an interesting thought - I don't know if I agree with it, I just think it's interesting that we could actually be doing harm to ourselves by engaging in it."

We also got some insight into how his "Premature" comedy special came about.

"I've been working on comedy just quietly by myself since SourceFed, and then I was with Mashable for a while, and sort of whatever I was doing, I was also doing standup, but I wasn't really telling people about it. [...] I was like, you know what, I'm gonna do a standup special. And it went great. It was a long process of building an hour that is very good and indicative of me, and I'm very happy about it and can't wait for people to watch it."
