Sofia Vergara Baby: Actress Rumored To Be Expecting Child Via Surrogate With Fiance Nick Loeb

Baby On The Way?

Just two weeks ago, Sofia Vergara disappointed fans worldwide when she skipped the Oscars red carpet because of what she claimed was the flu. Now new rumors allege that the actress was never sick, but rather spotted in the hospital with her surrogate and had to make up an illness to cover up the fact that she's expecting a baby.

According to the National Enquirer, Vergara, 40, and fiance Nick Loeb, 37, decided on a surrogate baby mostly because Loeb didn't want his famous girlfriend's figure or career ruined by pregnancy. Vergara, who has a 20-year-old son, reportedly "picked one of her healthiest and closest friends" for the job, per the Enquirer.

Then, a couple days before the Oscars, the trio suffered a miscarriage scare when the surrogate developed pains. Vergara and Loeb rushed to the hospital with her, where tests showed it was a false alarm. "After several hours, it was determined that the baby was fine, and so was the surrogate mom," a source close to the couple told the Enquirer. "Sofia thanked God that everything was OK."

Since Vergara was seen in the hospital, the couple allegedly decided to make up the flu as an excuse so the surrogacy story wouldn't leak to the press.

A request for comment made to Vergara's rep was not immediately answered.
