Sophie Theallet & The Limited Partner Up

PHOTOS: Sophie Theallet Teams Up With The Limited

When the first lady wears your clothes, good things follow.

Sophie Theallet is collaborating with The Limited on a longterm partnership, reports Women's Wear Daily. The French designer will work with the mall-based retailer on a holiday collection and will stick around beyond the initial launch season.

As WWD notes, having an exclusive guest designer is actually a tradition of The Limited. In the '80s, the brand worked with the likes of Sonia Rykiel and Kenzo at a time when the phrase "designer collaboration" was barely a concept. But in recent years, as any female shopper knows, The Limited is more known for workplace basics than high-fashion flavor.

But the brand will get an injection of luxury from Sophie Theallet, who toiled under Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaia before launching her own line in 2007. Since then, she's nabbed a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award in 2009 and collaborated with Nine West, Gap and Starbucks.

She's also, of course, designed for one of the most famous woman in the world. Michelle Obama has made Theallet one of her wardrobe go-to's, picking her bright dresses for her visits to Ghana and Chile as well as Fourth of July at the White House.

Check out Sophie Theallet's dresses on Mrs. O and read more about her partnership with The Limited at WWD.com. Would you queue up for Theallet duds?
