Water is expected to continue rising this week.

Following a weekend of torrential, history-making rainfall and the collapse of 10 dams across the state, South Carolina is suffering from severe flooding -- and waters in the eastern part of the state are still expected to rise.

At least 14 people have died in the state since Saturday due to weather-related incidents, CNN reports. At least seven people have drowned and four have died in traffic accidents.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 305 state roads and 166 bridges were still closed, and at least 800 evacuated people were in shelters, according to NBC News. More evacuations may take place later this week.

President Barack Obama has signed a disaster declaration calling for federal aid to help relief efforts.
