Here's further confirmation that sex education is just not cutting it.
SparkLife, the teen blog from SparkNotes, asked its readers questions about sex ed to better understand their experience with intimacy and the ways they're learning about it. Based on the results, most young people learn about sex outside the classroom.
Out of 973 readers surveyed, 63 percent said they get most of their knowledge of “sexy things” from the Internet. Only 10 percent get that information from school.
Still waiting on your first kiss? Don't worry. Half of the readers polled were NBK (never been kissed in SparkLife lingo), too. And 80 percent hadn't done the HND (horizontal naked dance).
From talking to parents about sex to having a "'Notebook'-level relationship," SparkLife collected a variety of information about sex and dating -- and slapped it all on some pretty rad graphics. Check them out below to get a better idea of what sex ed and intimacy are actually like for young people today.
