Spirit Is Offering 99 Percent Off Flights Today And The Deals Are Unreal

We’ve seen good flash sales and great flash sales, but hardly anything quite like this.

Budget carrier Spirit Airlines is offering “99 percent off” flights Friday, March 3. The deal is for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between March 14 and April 11, to all but a few of their destinations in the U.S. and abroad.

You could fly from Los Angeles to New York City for $93 round-trip, plus tax. Or Seattle to Miami for $96 round-trip, plus tax. Or New York City to St. Thomas for $116, plus tax. You get the idea.

The catch, of course, is that you’ll have to pay other fees in addition to the prices quoted on Spirit’s flight search tool. When we completed booking for a cross-country trip, tax came out to about $46. And in true Spirit fashion, you’ll also have to pay if you want to bring a carry-on or checked bag: Prices vary by route and came out to $35 each way for us. Oh, and many of the sale flights include stops or layovers.

But hey, if you’re willing to rough it a bit ― Spirit is routinely ranked the worst airline in a number of categories ― this could be an incredible deal. Plus, the 24-hour cancellation rule means you can book a flight today and change your mind tomorrow for a full refund, provided your trip is more than a week away.
