"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought." -1 Corinthians 1:10

In the current uproar of American bipartisan politics, present are the true elements of the egotistic mind: selfishness, lack of consciousness, and prejudice in harmony with utter disunity. This is not the country, let alone the world, that we desire to create for ourselves, our brothers, or our Creator. The element of party identification causes conflict and division, some of many ego-driven qualities.

As Americans, we are urged to educate ourselves about and participate in politics. As spiritual beings, many of us have failed to recognize the inherent lack of spirituality present in the current political system. As per tradition, political candidates are forced into ego-strengthening practices, such as self-promotion and false accusations regarding their fellow opponents. The most spirit-weakening fact is that many American individuals fail to see the lack of spirituality in politics and continuously feed into the dividing reign of media, politics, and division. This is not a matter of the separation of church and state, but one of unity of mankind through a political revolution.

With the current presidential campaigns surrounding us, it is important that we strive to remain in unity with one another regardless of another's political viewpoint. How do we do this? Love.
Respect for your neighbor's opinions.
Open ears. Don't listen to someone just to fight back or respond; just listen to understand their beliefs.

"An Indian said to 'Abdu'l-Bahá:
'My aim in life is to transmit as far as in me lies the message of Krishna to the world.'
'Abdu'l-Bahá said: The Message of Krishna is the message of love. All God's prophets have brought the message of love. None has ever thought that war and hate are good. Every one agrees in saying that love and kindness are best."
-'Abdu'l-Bahá, in Paris Talks

Today, remember how much you value love, peace, kindness, and friendship over your stance on politics. #SupportOneness
