If you've ever stood idly by in your kitchen on Thanksgiving and thought to yourself, "If only there was some way to use a digital streaming music service to determine the length of a playlist to perfectly match the cooking time of my turkey," then buckle up: Your Thanksgiving just got a whole lot better.
That's because Spotify has come up with a way to infuse your love of cooking large birds for a family meal and your passion for music. Today, the company launches Time for Turkey, an innovative campaign that aims to help you cook your turkey perfectly -- and listen to great songs while you wait for it to cook.
First, select how many pounds your Thanksgiving bird is and whether it's stuffed or not. Then, you select the "mood" of the music you want to inform your turkey playlist. There are options like Americana ("The ultimate soundtrack for a truly American holiday"), Family Time ("Grandma and the nephew are in the kitchen, and they're both saying: 'Turn it up'"), and Club Kitchen ("Songs that'll make you dance up an appetite").
Then Spotify creates a custom playlist based on your turkey's predicted cooking time and your musical tastes. We're not sure about the specified roasting temperature of 325°F (a guy we know suggests cooking it at 450°F, which will help your turkey cook faster), but maybe the folks at Spotify are just trying to encourage more kitchen dancing time? All you need to get started is a free Spotify account (you can also sign in with your Facebook account). Oh, and a sweet pair of dance-appropriate kitchen clogs. Time for Turkey will take care of the rest.
