Terrible Two's by Megs Pritchard
Megs Pritchard Romance Author

For today’s Spotlight I am happy to have Romance Author Meg Pritchard from England. Enjoy the interview!

SS: First can you tell us something about yourself?

Megs P: I’m mummy to two small boys, the most rewarding and hardest job there is!

My other job is working with adults who have learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.

Then when I have spare time I write.

SS: When did you begin on writing?

Megs P: I started writing around three years ago and I wasn’t that serious. I just wanted to do it. There was never that thought of publishing until later.

SS: Can you recall the first story you wrote?

Megs P: Yes, Saving Sela. I still have it and I’m rewriting it for possible release later this year.

SS: What type of genre do you write and why it stands out?

Romance – any type. I’ll read pretty much anything except Biographies. I’m not that interested in other people’s lives. We only have one and we should live it to its fullest. Make the best we can of the one we have.

SS: How many stories and books have you written?

Megs P: I’m in the middle of three at the moment! Planning, building and writing. I’ve published a short, a novella and a novel. I’ll be publishing my next novel, Terrible Twos, on Jan 30th.

Overall, I’ve written ten stories, books so far.

SS: What can you tell us about your writing process?

Megs P: I’m kind of a planner/punster. I plan where I want the story to go but don’t follow it religiously. If the story goes off in a different direction when I’m writing then I’ll go with it.

I like to build the world and have all the character profiles complete. There’s nothing worse than a character’s eyes changing colour in the middle of the story!

SS: Can you tell us about your books?

Megs P: I’ve only released m/m so far, but I’ve just started an m/f one. My books always end up with some angst in them, so I’ve planned a story that should hopefully be a straight love story.

SS: What are your favorite characters? Why do they stand out?

Megs P: I love Tom from the Second Chance series I’m finishing now. A strong character who has endured so much, but is there for his friends and those he considers family.

Zach from Terrible Twos, who suddenly ends up being Dad to his nephews. The things that happen to him!

SS: What is some piece of advice you found helpful when beginning to write?

Megs P: Just write. You only improve the more you practice and it’s true.

SS: Do you have any special routine you have to follow when you write? For example, do you have to write in a quiet area of the house? Is Music a big part of it?

Megs P: No routine. As long as I’ve got a drink and some sort of plan, I’m good to go. Depending on what scene I’m writing depend on whether I’ll listen to music or not. Usually I like the quiet. I end up singing to the music and not really writing.

SS: What were some of your writing influences growing up? Did you have a favorite writer?

Megs P:

I love horror so I’ve read all Shaun Hutson, James Herbert, Dean Koontz and so many others. I read David Eddings and Terry Brooks. Did they influence me? Yes, I loved the worlds they created and wanted to do the same.

SS: What piece of advice can you give a beginning writer?

Megs P: Try, try and try again. Never give up and never let anyone tear you down.

SS: What do you hope your readers take away from reading your books?

Megs P: A smile and some happiness that it all worked out on the end.

SS: What are you currently working on?

Megs P: I’ve just started a paranormal future world. I’m busy world building and developing characters. I want a strong female lead, so I’m working on her.

SS: What is something we do not know about you?

Megs P: Wow, I’m not sure. I’m a fairly open person. I don’t tell lies. This is the only way I know how to be.

SS: Thanks for being here today Meg!
