Spring In Chicago: Snowy Morning, Thunderstorms Possible Later

While most Chicagoans are wise enough to not expect consistent sunny, warm days in April, that didn't stop people from cursing while scraping the ice and snow from their cars Monday morning.

Light snow fell throughout Chicago and the suburbs early Monday as temperatures hovered around 34 degrees. The snow is expected to stop before noon, but temperatures will stay low throughout the day.

The National Weather Service predicts that temperatures will only reach 39 degrees Monday, with wind gusts as high as 25 miles per hour. Rain is expected to continue throughout the day, into Monday night. Thunderstorms could develop later, especially south of I-80, according to the NWS.

Unfortunately, the forecast for the week does not improve much. Thunderstorms are likely Tuesday and temperatures are only expected to reach 42 degrees. Rain is in the forecast through Thursday night, and the National Weather Service warns that more thunderstorms could hit the area Friday.
