Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive: Letter Carriers To Collect Food Across America May 8

Each year, the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger campaign rallies Americans for a massive one-day food drive. Letter carriers in communities across the country collect food items donated by individual households, left by the mailbox. Since 1993, American letter carriers have collected over a quarter of a billion pounds of food in the annual food drive. With the 2010 food drive, organizers hope to reach the one billion pound goal.

This year, the food drive, organized in partnership with country's largest hunger relief organization, Feeding America, will be held on May 8. Each residence that wants to participate can leave a bag of nonperishable food items by their mailbox, to be given to hungry families. Facebook users can also maximize their impact by becoming a fan of the Stamp Out Hunger Facebook page. For each fan, Campbell's Soup will donate one can to Feeding America.

On the Stamp Out Hunger website, participants can sign up for e-mail or text message alerts to remind them to leave out their food donations on May 8.
