We’re all guilty. We forget our reusable totes at the grocery store and have to use Trader Joe's bags (and then miss out on their raffle contest). We let the shower run while we wait for it to warm up, and then we leave the house with phone chargers left in outlets. Though small on an individual scale, these missed energy-saving opportunities contribute to one heck of a global environmental footprint that’s fueling climate change.

The EPA reports that global temperatures are expected to rise by two to 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. Stronger storms, frequent heat waves, and exacerbated ocean acidification are among the many effects expected from climate change.

It may seem easy blaming a few notorious greenhouse gas-producing industries like power and transportation. Though certain assailants are far worse for the environment than others -- take, for example, the 90 companies responsible for two-thirds of greenhouse gas emissions -- we can all do better. Check out these common environmental offenses and suggestions on how to reverse our habits.
