Steve Jobs changed the world, and his genius, vision and innovations greatly impacted and inspired our world of sports. The Leonardo da Vinci of our time had such a profound impact on society in so many ways. And the sports world greatly benefited.

Information is such a vital part of sports. Where would fans be today without their personal computers and/or iPhones and iPads to look up scores, get up-dates, etc.?

For starters, how many of us in sports media who pre-date the computer era, did our daily research by cutting out articles and filing each one of them? Years ago when I cleaned out all my files, I could not believe how primitive and archaic that practice was, not to mention labor-intensive. And what about all those trips to the library? Suddenly, any information one needed to know -- scores, biographies, up-dates, etc., -- were only finger tips away.

How about all the software programs made available on Mac Computers which greatly enhanced sports productions, broadcasts, films and music? And all the athletes who train and practice while listening to their favorite songs on their iPods? And applications such as GPS on iPhones to help golfers navigate around a golf course.

Jobs brought digital technology to the masses. I'm sure if you think about it for a moment, you can come up with dozens of ways this genius changed your life with his innovations. And what's even more incredible is that not only did he conceptualize and develop these products, he marketed them and made them accessible and attractive to the entire world! He was Leonardo da Vinci and well, Steve Jobs, all rolled into one!

There do not seem to be enough adjectives to describe him and his contributions to our planet. Even during the years Jobs struggled with his health, he unveiled the iPad tablet computer! As years go on, much more will be written about his legacy and contributions.

Here are two of my favorite Steve Jobs quotes:

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle."

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice."

What ways have Steve Job's innovations changed and impacted your sports world?
