California state Sen. Steve Knight (R) has defeated fellow Republican Tony Strickland in the race to represent California's 25th Congressional District.
Strickland, himself a former state Senator, and Knight advanced to the general election after June's open primary. The seat became vacant after longtime Rep. Buck McKeon (R) announced earlier this year his intention to retire at the end of this term.
