Businessman and former mayor Steve Lonegan (R) faces off against Newark Mayor Cory Booker (D) in the New Jersey special election for U.S. Senate Wednesday.

A Monmouth University poll released days before the election showed Lonegan gaining ground on Booker. Still, about 52 percent of likely voters said they'd support Booker, while about 42 percent said they'd back Lonegan at the polls.
