Republican Steve Russell defeated Democrat Al McAffrey in Tuesday's midterm election.

Russell, a former state senator, and McAffrey, a current state senator, were battling to represent Oklahoma's 5th District. James Lankford, who currently represents that district, ran in Oklahoma's special election for Senate this year.
