3 Dead, 4 Injured In Stockton Shooting

At least seven people were shot in a drive-by shooting Tuesday in Stockton, California, according to local police. Three people were killed.

Police spokesman Joe Silva told the Los Angeles Times that the crime occurred outside a convenience store near downtown Stockton at around 8:30 p.m.

In a Facebook post, Stockton police said that two women, aged 20 and 27, and a 24-year-old man were killed in the shooting. The older woman is said to have died at the scene, while the other two victims died at the hospital.

“The remaining victims, a 38-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man are still at area hospitals and it appears they will survive their injuries,” police added.

According to USA Today, homicide and gang unit detectives were called to the scene to investigate. The authorities have yet to determine a motive for the shooting; however, Silva told the news outlet that “they suspect it was gang-related due to the high amount of gang and drug activity in the area.”
