Not a day goes by, it seems, without a print publication going online. But websites going to print? Now that's a rarity.
Leave it to Style.com to make the bold move, one that sounds sort of silly but was well thought-out. The fashion website is launching its new print magazine, entitled Style.com/Print, on Monday and filling it with the trends, party snaps and runway shots the site is famous for.
Included in the first issue? Top 10 lists of readers' favorite Spring 2012 shows (Chanel, of course, was victorious), a Q+A with Azzedine Alaïa and features on Donatella Versace and the boys of Proenza Schouler (see photo below).
In the pages of Style.com/Print, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have more space to actually speak, giving details about their brand beyond the runway slideshows on Style.com. Schneier writes:
As students at Parsons, McCollough and Hernandez joined forces to create a collaborative senior collection, the first they created together and the one which began their professional careers when Barneys New York bought it for the store. Tim Gunn, later of Project Runway, was the Parsons official who gave the duo approval for the collaboration. "He said, 'No one's ever done that before," Hernandez remembers Gunn telling him, "but he gave us the OK."
The pair also hints at what's coming down the pipeline. Said Hernandez, "We want to create easier everyday stuff, like jeans and a collection of more wearable shoes." (!!!)
So what else is there to see in the mag, which you can pick up online or at trendy stores like Milan's 10 Corso Como and Collette in Paris? Our highlight is the cover, a close-up of industry darling Lindsey Wixson shot by Theo Wenner, and a 23-page photo diary of the young model (and some cute quotes) inside.
Sneak a peek at some preview photos below and go online to style.com on Monday to get your own!
