The 68-year-old grandfather from Amarillo, Texas, showed off his awe-inspiring gymnastic skills after someone kindly offered him a preferred seat for elderly people on the subway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Instead of accepting the generous offer, he suspended himself horizontally in the air on a pole in an impressive flag pole lift, ABC News reports.
His 19-year-old grandson Britton Barker was with him on the train during their Rio visit for the Olympic Games, and he snapped the spectacular stunt. The photos are now going viral.
“Someone offered my grandpa a preferred seat for elderly people on the subway and he did this,” Barker posted to Twitter Thursday alongside a series of images.
They’d been liked more than 100,000 times and received 77,000 retweets as of Saturday morning. “Oops accidentally made Papa Twitter famous,” Barker later added.
He told British website indy100 that his grandfather is a regular at his local gym and often pulls off similar sensational stunts for him and his friends.
“His extremely strong upper body and the strength of his core gives him the ability to hold his entire body weight up in a straight position,” Britton said. “He is a one of a kind grandfather, that is for sure!”
