This past May, photos of Ben Affleck suited up in his Batsuit while on the set of "Suicide Squad" leaked. The photos depicted Affleck catching a ride on the back of The Joker's (Jared Leto) sports car, but the Caped Crusader's involvement in the film has largely remained a mystery -- until now.

Along with a new photo of the film's main cast of super villains, director David Ayer spilled a few details about Affleck's cameo in the much-anticipated movie to USA Today.

“We made him fight,” Ayer said. “He’s awesome [as Batman] ... You really sense that but for the grace of God he himself would be doing some really foul stuff out in the world.”

Meanwhile, Affleck, who will first appear as Batman in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," told the paper that while he is "bound by nondisclosure clauses a mile long," he shouldn't get in too much trouble admitting "Suicide Squad" should live up to all the hype.

“It felt like I have such a cool cousin," he said. "This thing that is so awesome is somehow related to me, and that was really exciting because it started to feel like a constellation of things, and I’ve never had that feeling."

Affleck hasn't spoken too extensively about the iconic role, though he previously admitted he had some hesitation taking on the gig.

"Initially I thought, 'I'm older, it doesn't seem like the right sort of fit for me,'" Affleck told Empire magazine in July, adding that Snyder reassured him his age wasn't an issue and that Affleck was exactly who he was looking for. "Then Zack pitched me his concept for this older, more broken, kind of f**ked up Batman," Affleck recalled. "It was something we haven't seen."

"Batman v Superman" arrives in theaters on March 25 and "Suicide Squad" hits theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
