A New Way To Sell Books?

If you're struck by wanderlust but are short a few vacation days this summer, reading can transport you anywhere: the west coast, the Himalayas, European gardens.

With this in mind, Free Press created a summer reading iPad app to promote a handful of their forthcoming books. Users can listen to author interviews, watch book trailers, read excerpts and tinker with maps and photos that accompany the novels, which are arranged by their destinations.

"The Folded Earth" by Anuradha Roy includes character descriptions and sketches, and "The Other Half of Me" by Morgan McCarthy includes architectural renderings of places mentioned in the book.
