There is still time to come together with like-minded yogis, celebrate your practice, and get centered before summer festival season is over.
Are you envious of friends who got the chance to attend one (or more) of this summer's larger-than-life yoga events? It's not too late to sign up for a weekend of asana, meditation, spiritual bonding, and extraordinary yoga-centric activities. If you're longing to retreat before temperatures drop and leaves fall, take the plunge and sign up for one of these late-summer events.
Bhakti Fest West
When: September 10-13
Where: Joshua Tree, CA
Practice yoga and meditation with premiere teachers including Sianna Sherman, Shiva Rea, Mark Whitwell, and Kia Miller, dance to sacred music by world-renowned Kirtan artists, feast on vegetarian fare, camp under the stars, and give to those in need--all at one festival! Hosted at the heavenly Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Los Angeles, Bhakti Fest offers up an all-encompassing yoga experience with the goal of giving back. The festival is part of the Center for Spiritual Studies, a non-profit that supports charities around the world, many in India. After covering event costs, Bhakti Fest proceeds are donated to chosen causes each year.
Live Well, Be Well
When: September 12
Where: Bethel, NY
Get ready for peace, love, and lots of yoga. The inaugural Live Well, Be Well Festival will be held at the original site of Woodstock, hosted by the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The Integral Yoga Institute will open with a tribute to Sri Swami Satchidananda, who opened the 1969 music festival. And Tom Law, who soothed the crowd of nearly 500,000 with on-stage yoga in between music sets, will host a lecture in the event gallery. Power Yoga for Sports founder Gwen Lawrence will teach a master class on the great lawn, and DJ HyFi will be uplifting the masses throughout the day. The Museum at Bethel Woods will also be open. You don't want to miss this historic occasion.
When: September 13; September 20
Where: Brooklyn, NY; Washington D.C.
Take your practice--and sense of adventure--to new heights by enrolling in one of Wanderlust's "mindful triathlons" in Brooklyn or D.C. this September. Wanderlust 108 includes a 5k run, outdoor yoga experience, guided meditation, and so much more. The best part: Community trumps competition in this race. Everyone wins! This yoga hybrid extravaganza also showcases live bands and DJs, inspirational talks, lawn activities like hooping, slacklining and acroyoga, and local food and craft vendors. Challenge your body, calm your mind, and connect with fellow "competitors" at this innovative event.
