Sunset Junction celebrated its 30th anniversary with last weekend's street festival. Tens of thousands hoofed it to Sunset Boulevard (parking was scarce, so people were encouraged to take public transportation) to enjoy carnival games, deep fried foods, five music stages, and local goods vendors. On Saturday night, the craziest place to be was at the Sanborn Stage for an evening of soul, ska, and punk with performances by Big Daddy Kane (with Soup from Jurassic 5 opening), Fishbone, and Bad Brains.
On Sunday, the big acts were Mayer Hawthorne (check out his amazing tweeted pic from the stage), Sam Sparro, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, who closed out the evening. We turn to twitter for an ever-so-brief review of Sunday evening: "mayer hawthorne brought it. sam sparro killed it. edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros....were 45 minutes late."
