Supermoon Over The Monuments

WASHINGTON -- Did you see it?

The June supermoon -- also known as a perigee moon -- set social media ablaze Sunday as professional photographers and amateur astronomers alike took to Twitter to share their snaps of the celestial wonder.

A supermoon can appear "as much as 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter" than other full moons, and Sunday's was especially unique because the moon will not be this close to Earth again until August 2014.
