I am blogging from Chicago where I am greeting nearly 700 leaders from across the country arriving here for our first CSH Summit: Supportive Housing Innovations. The enthusiasm is palpable. Already the give and take has begun, and great ideas on how best to effectively build on the momentum propelling supportive housing forward are rolling in.

This afternoon was especially insightful for those participating in our site tours, where we traveled in groups to see first-hand local supportive housing initiatives serving diverse populations: veterans, families, those with disabilities, people in mental health recovery, overcoming substance use, and women who escaped domestic violence. So much was shared and learned. The stories of lives transformed by supportive housing, how it moves individuals and families from despair to hope and dignity, were not only heartwarming, they inspire us to redouble our efforts to ensure everyone who needs affordable housing and access to community-based services receives them.
