The ink has not dried on our social conscience since June 21, 2010, when the Supreme Court, our last resort, defender of our constitutional rights against the tyranny of a few, rich and powerful, buckled just in time before the 2012 presidential elections to enable the corporations and their non-profit foundation arms to make unlimited contributions to influence our political elections. The nine guardians of our freedom voted 5-to-4 to declare a corporation a "person" with the same rights to free speech as a breathing live American. Within that decision, a corporation with eternal life and no fear of imprisonment and pain other than financial punishment, minuscule by their large resources, received unlimited rights to influence and buy our governmental representatives, including our president. To this end, they had unlimited funds. What has happened to our Founding Father's dream of government, "Of The People, By The People, and For The People"?

Now we are shocked again to learn that "in a 5-to-4 vote" the U.S. Supreme Court has struck down a lower court's ruling and award for the victim of a pharmaceutical drug's adverse reaction. According to the victim and the State Courts, the drug caused a flesh-eating side-effect that left the patient disfigured over most of her body. The adverse reaction was hidden by the drug maker and later was forced to be included on all warning labels, but the highest court in the land ruled that the victim had "no legal ground to sue the corporation because its drugs are exempt from lawsuits." -src, Whiteout Press

In other words, a drug company that kills or maims us by pushing drugs on us through the corrupt health care system and is beholden to profit only, stands protected in law. Yet, these same drug companies fund medical training and "made to order" research, as well as, exert extensive influence on FDA drug approval process. They wine and dine doctors and pay them consultant fees to ghost write on their behalf and become their front-line sales force. We the people take the risks with our lives. Drugs generic or brand name are drugs. The companies that profit by selling them should be responsible for their effects. For more on this shocking truth and solution to it, see Health Care without Corruption, July 7, 2013. Isn't it time for us as a people to wake up and untangle the mess of corporate influence on our government affecting our fundamental freedoms and constitutional rights? What has become of our government Of The People, For The People, By The People? Is the clear trajectory of our future the tyranny of a few rich and powerful in the cloth of faceless corporations? Are our Supreme Court judges themselves victims of glitz and trappings of luxury living and beholden to those corporations? Your comments and thoughts are welcomed.
