Survivor Frontman Says Kim Davis Can't Use 'Eye Of The Tiger'

Let's call this a knockout.

Kim Davis is no Rocky Balboa.

"Eye of the Tiger" played as Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis took to the podium Tuesday with her arms raised following her release from a Grayson, Kentucky jail. While the crowd might have been pumped up by the tune, the men behind the song were none too pleased.

Survivor frontman Frankie Sullivan posted his thoughts about the song's unauthorized use to Facebook, writing: "I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!"

Jim Peterik, the band's co-founder, also had some words for Davis.

"I was very surprised and dismayed at the misuse of the song I co-wrote with Frankie Sullivan for 'Rocky lll,'" he told Billboard. "The song has motivated thousands through the years to reach beyond their limits. Its use for the release of Kim Davis does not support my views or my politics. I have contacted my publishers to make sure this usage is stopped immediately."

Davis, an Apostolic Christian, defied the Supreme Court's June ruling on marriage equality and denied marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She was booked into the Carter County Detention Center for the refusal.

"We serve a living God who knows exactly where each and every one of us is," a crying Davis said in front of the cheering crowd Tuesday as "Eye of the Tiger" played. "Just keep on pressing, don't let down. Because He is here."
