Taco Bell Voted America's Best Mexican Restaurant For 2018

The fast food chain has been attempting to be a healthier option over the years.

Every year, the stats and analytics firm Harris Insights & Analytics releases its EquiTrend study identifying the best brands out there.

After surveying more than 77,000 people, covering over 3,000 brands, Harris this year determined that Taco Bell is America’s best Mexican restaurant. Moe’s took the title in 2017 and Chipotle in 2016.

Taco Bell, the fourth-largest fast food chain in the United States, has been labeled one of the healthier fast food options, cutting sodium across its menu by 15 percent since 2008. Though even the chain readily admits it should not be considered a bastion of health.

“Us touting ourselves as a health halo — it’s not authentic and it’s not real,” Taco Bell spokesman Alec Boyle told Food Beast in 2016. Healthy or not, the brand is clearly doing something right.

Other winners in the brand survey include best burger restaurant Five Guys, best chicken restaurant Chick-fil-A and best pizza chain Blaze Pizza.
