Racist Twitter Strikes Again

The racially insensitive Twitter users have reared their ugly heads once again. We thought it was bad when Romney supporters spewed their hateful words on the social network shortly after the election, but this time is even more infuriating and ludicrous.

According to Deadspin, NBC's decision to interrupt last night's 49ers-Patriot's game for President Obama's speech at the Newtown memorial for victims of the Sandy Hook shooting was the latest catalyst for Twitter racism.

Naturally, sports fans were not too happy about missing the game, not only did some display complete insensitivity for the victims and their families, but they also decided to share sentiments that went beyond interrupting the action on the field and crossed over into ignorance.

Here a just a few of the Tweets we dug up.

Get this nigger off the tv i want to watch football!

Somebody get this terrorist off my tv. I'd rather listen to Serena Williams play a set than this nigger

Obama get off the fucking tv I wanna watch the game, nigger

One such Tweeter named Bradley Patterson happened to be a Division II, University of North Alabama, player who decided to add to the online ignorance, writing: "Take that nigger off the tv, we wanna watch football! @Hester52 @Ty_CoolerThanU." UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder later tweeted that Patterson's actions got him kicked off the team. Patterson's Twitter account has since been deleted.

“Thx 2 everyone who brought the inappropriate tweet to our attention. @UNAAthletics does not condone. He is no longer a member of the team,” Linder tweeted.

This is certainly not the first time racist sentiments have caught our attention, and we're sure it won't be the last. Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below, and see more tweets on Deadspin.
