Talk To Me

There is nothing more important than having an open dialogue between yourself and your children. The world is an incredibly complex place and with the advances in technology things change for our children much more quickly then they change for us. Dialogue, face-to-face, is one of those changing dynamics.

I was so honored to do this #talktome program to inspire conversation, real conversation, between parents and their children. My daughter is 11 1/2 years old and was so excited to interview me and to come up with her own questions searching for my answers and opinions. I love that she asked questions about some current and relevant issues, one being sexual preference and another about her and Dad and I being divorced. Both of these topics concern her in ways they did not at all concern me as child, even though I was a product of a divorced family.

I was proud of her courage and I am so blessed to be her mom. I make sure my daughter and I have time face-to-face each day. It is our special talk-time and I intend to foster this for the rest of our lives. I am her mentor, her parent and her guide and to be able to sustain this role she and I need to talk.
