There are many wild and wonderful places to go on safari within Africa. Each and every one of them will tell you they are the best place. However, in our opinion, Tanzania is hands down the worlds ultimate safari destination.

Today we are going to take a look at Tanzania, why it’s so special, and why we strongly recommend that you consider it for your next safari vacation.

Let’s get started.

Huge Protected Areas

Having a huge amount of land protected and dedicated to wildlife viewing is nothing special in terms of safaris. It’s kind of an essential component. If you’ve not got huge wild open spaces, then you’ve not got the right environment for a world-class safari.

However, Tanzania goes further than many other countries in this respect. They’ve dedicated almost a third of their entire country’s landmass to be protected wildlife viewing areas. It’s was a smart decision to do this, as it’s arguably what made Tanzania into one of the world’s best safari destinations. Without the country’s dedication to wildlife conservation, none of this would be possible.

The Great Migration

Mass migrations of any size are spectacles to behold. But with a name like “The Great Migration”, you know this is probably going to be good. At certain points of the year, over two million wilder beast, gazelle, and zebras make a long, dangerous, and difficult journey to find greener pastures.

Their path takes them across northern Tanzania and Kenya and it’s widely regarded to be one of the worlds most exciting and impressive natural events. It’s been the feature of countless nature documentaries over the years, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s a once in a lifetime unforgettable experience.

The Serengeti

Just hearing the word Serengeti makes you think of wild animals, rolling planes, and African safari adventures. It’s probably one of the world’s most famous national parks, and for a very good reason too. It’s one of the locations where the great migration takes place, and the mega herds travel there for the green pastures the Serengeti is famous for.

These fertile grounds attract a huge variety of natural life all year round. Grazers come to graze, and predators come to hunt them. It’s one of the most diverse, action-packed, exciting safari locations on the planet – and it more than lives up to the legendary reputation of its name.

The Animals

Tanzania has a mind-boggling collection of animals that call the fertile lands of the country home. As always, for the best chance of seeing them, we recommend you pick one of the many reputable Tanzania safari tours on offer. But quite honestly, they are so abundant here that it’s hard not to see the animals you’re hoping for a glimpse of.

Lions are exceptionally common, it’s one of the best places in the world to spot the king of the jungle in action thanks to the huge amount of potential prey on offer. You’ll also see other top predators like leopards and cheetahs too with impressive regularity.

All of these big cats are here to prey on some of the most exotic and interesting grazers the animal kingdom has to offer. From herds of wildebeest through to gazelles and zebra - Tanzania has it all.

Some of those prey species are easier for the lions and leopards to catch than others, but there are other grazers in Tanzania that the big cats are going to stay well away from. Massive families of tank-like rhinos and plenty of aggressive hippos can be found throughout the country.

Still not enough? Then how about watering holes infested with countless crocodiles. How about magnificent giraffes with impossibly long necks. Or maybe only a family of elephants is going to satisfy your curiosity?

The list of animals that you’re capable of seeing in the wild and wonderful national parks of Tanzania have no end. And let’s face it, that’s the whole point of a safari.

You’re certainly not going to be disappointed.

Conclusion

So there you have it, just some of the many reasons you should seriously consider picking Tanzania as your next safari destination. It’s a wild, enjoyable, and simply unforgettable experience that will create memories you’ll treasure for the rest of your life.
