"Flip or Flop" star Tarek El Moussa might just be the luckiest man on television.

El Moussa, who hosts the HGTV show with his wife, Christina, found out that he had thyroid cancer after a fan, Ryan Read, spotted a "large nodule" while watching a "Flip or Flop" marathon in 2013.

Read sent the couple an email with her concerns, according to The Independent.

"This is not a joke," read Read's email. "I'm a registered nurse. I've been watching 'Flip or Flop.' I noticed that the host Tarek has a large nodule on his thyroid, and he needs to have it checked out."

On a Monday episode of "The Doctors," El Moussa said that when he got the email, he quickly took action.

"We got the email, and I had a bad feeling about it, just made the first doctor's appointment we could," said El Moussa on the show. "That night I had surgery."

After describing the ordeal, the HGTV star and his wife then got chance to meet the woman that might've saved his life.

Read and the couple tearfully exchanged hugs during the emotional meeting.

"If it wasn't for TV, or her noticing this huge lump on my neck, I would still be moving forward with my life with cancer in my body and never doing anything about it," said El Moussa.

In an interview with People, El Moussa admits that he is healthy, but more tired than usual.

"There is always that chance of reoccurrence but every year that goes by, the odds of reoccurrence goes down, so it's good," said the HGTV star to People. "I have slowed down quite a bit. Which is actually a good thing, because I can actually relax now."
