Well, hello, ladies! What took you so long?
Well, hello, ladies! What took you so long?

Here is an origin story you can smile about.

Target and DC Comics have teamed up to create “DC Super Hero Girls,” inspired by the female characters from Warner Bros’ new franchise and web series, “DC Super Hero Girls,” according to Target.

Ladies like Supergirl, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy, Bumble Bee and Harley Quinn will be flying onto shelves at Target this March.

In addition to action figures made by Mattel, Target will also be selling girls’ apparel emblazoned with iconic logos, stars and empowering words like “strong” and “brave” as well.

"We keep our ear to the ground and listen to feedback from our guests," Lee Henderson, a spokesperson for Target, told Today.com. "There is lots of excitement around this new launch, and we can't wait to share the power of these iconic female super hero characters with fans. We know their stories of epic action and girl power will definitely resonate."

How is the Internet’s equivalent of the peanut galley, aka social media, responding to the new line? Glad you asked. BAM!:

It seems that kids are super into the web series as well:

Here’s hoping that Target also decides to sell invisible jets and lassos of truth sometime in the near future as well.
