Alvaro Reinoso's Andanada restaurant owns its Michelin Star! What a gem to find on the UWS of NYC. The long bar, communal tables at the front, and gorgeous green house feel in the back of the restaurant make this spot perfect for any occasion.

Refined Spanish tapas, this food is high caliber in terms of presentation and taste. Nothing disappointed. We started with an incredibly flavorful and refreshing cocktail. Then went on to a beautiful red picked out by the sommelier.

Tapas to start - always fun to share a couple of small plates and try different bites. Refreshing tuna and watermelon tartar with watermelon gazpacho. Fried Navarra artichokes with grated 12-month Manchego cheese came second. My ultimate favorite were the berenjenas crujientes, thinly sliced eggplant chips drizzled with honey, pine nuts, and chives. Also pleasing and very unique were the spinach and shrimp ravioli with shimeji mushrooms and frisee salad.

Then we split the seafood paella - fun and authentic. The New Zealand lamb loin was cooked to perfection - served alongside parsnip puree and divine poached leeks--one of the best lambs I have had in a long time. Decadent four cheese tablas with toasted bread to finish, paired perfectly with what Spain is known for--thin slices of Serrano ham served with their freshly baked pan con tomate.

Dessert was refreshing and a pretty design - flavorful and light. Mosaic of pears in wine with five spices, white chocolate brownie and chocolate ice cream.

Nice note: Flamenco shows every Tuesday night from 7-9 p.m. and every Sunday brunch from 12-2 p.m. What a fun and incredibly delicious NYC gem.
